The Day I Traded My Slippers for Space Boots The prequel to the Sir William & Mac Life Without Slippers Series
Chi Pequel, the photon space monster, AKA Maurice
Who would ask a simple, kind of weird, trash barge pilot to save the world? William enjoys his life, going to work in slippers, hauling trash from point A to point B, playing his music as loud as he wants, and blowing up space debris along the way, just because it's fun. But suddenly he is asked to deflect a space monster that is devouring the planet. Eighty-nine other agents have attempted to destroy it and now they are eighty-nine dead agents. The Assembly has chosen him because he is known far and wide to be annoying. The plan is to annoy the space monster, who he names Maurice, in order to convince it to move along and stop the annihilation of the planet. He's also been assigned a babysitting duty for some kid on Earth. He has no idea why or how, but if he refuses it's a life of solitary confinement. He changes his slippers for boots and begins. In the midst of it all he meets Briana, and although he is determined to not fall in love with her he does. Which aggravates an ice queen named Bax, since she had her romantic intentions toward him quite clear. It is never a good idea to have an ice queen angry with you. William isn't sure which is more deadly, the photon space monster that eats planets, or the ice queen who can freeze and shatter them. And people. Especially people who made her look bad.
